Weeks#1 & #2 - Orientation & Getting Acquainted


We will spend the first week of  class getting acquainted with each other and getting oriented to the course methods and tools.

Register for a Gmail account if you don't already have one.
Create a Blogger BlogBlogger Guide here and Screencast here
Register at Quizlet (You can use your Google account to sign up easily - please use a recognizable name as your ID)

Choose at least three of the acquaintance questions we used in class on March 3 and answer them in at least one  page of text (300~500 words).  Choose questions that you can answer in an interesting way. You can use any writing platform  (pen & paper, PC based word processing, or  phone text). Feel free to choose more than three questions and write more than one page of text
Post a 1~5 minute INTRODUCTION VIDEO to the class BAND. 
You can take a ‘selfie video’ with your phone or get help from a friend. Be as creative as you like!  Begin by telling use your name and then read the revised responses to your 'Get Acquainted' questions. Read as naturally as possible. You can then say anything else you like (or not).  If you have any problems uploading the video to the Band, email the file to Jeff at [email protected]


For Friday March 10 Bring in at least 5 photos of things that are important to you. These can be people, places, experiences, possessions or anything else you value. Photos can be printed or shown on a digital device, but can not be stored on a USB drive with no display.



Week#2 (due March 11, 6pm)
After completing your ENG260 Entrance Questionnaire (so that Jeff knows your Gmail address), go to your Google Drive.  Click 'Shared with me'.
You should see a folder with your name and ENG260 Writings.
RIGHT click it and select 'Add to my Drive'. 
Open that folder and click 'New/ Google Doc'.
Click 'New/ Google Docs'. A new document will appear . Change the title to 'Your Name, Student ID, Get Acquainted Responses'.
Type (or copy/paste) your responses to the 'Get Acquainted Questions' there.
You do not need to save the document - it is automatically saved every 5 seconds.
If you like, you can post this on your blog as well, but you are not required to do so.
